The bipartisan Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) announced it has endorsed Republican candidate Laura Devlin for the 134th Assembly District race this election cycle. The district is comprised of Fairfield and Trumbull.

Rep. Devlin said, “I am very proud to receive this endorsement from the League. They do incredible work promoting the greater protection of our natural resources and beautiful environmental landscape and I am happy to support their efforts. Thank you to the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters for your vote of confidence in me.” This year, State Representative Devlin was a crucial voice in legislation which prohibits the General Assembly from enacting any legislation requiring a state agency to sell, transfer or otherwise dispose of any real property or interest in real property that is under the custody or control of such agency to any person or entity other than another state agency, unless a committee has held a public hearing regarding such sale.

The CTLCV put out a statement on their website saying, “Rep. Devlin knows preserving open space is both important for protecting treasured resources and attracting families and businesses to Connecticut. She’s a true fighter for the environment, and knows the harm plastics can wreak on our ecosystems, so she’s committed to finding a solution.”

Laura worked to secure the constitutional ballot initiative in an effort to preserve more open space in Connecticut. According to Rep. Devlin, the state has a goal of having 21 percent of open space protected from developers by the year 2023. Passage of this measure will help get us to that goal.

Laura also supported legislation in 2018, which would prohibit the residential use of automatic pesticide misting systems in the state. State residents had expressed concerns that these devices are unregulated and are often installed at a height that could potentially spray children and pets directly.
