Endorsement: Local and State Police Endorsements
FAIRFIELD/TRUMBULL – State Rep. Laura Devlin today received the support and endorsement of the Trumbull Police Union, Police Officers Association of Connecticut and the Connecticut State Fraternal Order of Police.
“I am grateful and honored to receive the support of our men and women in blue. Both the Trumbull and Fairfield Police Departments do an outstanding job protecting our communities making sure we are safe, said Rep. Devlin. I will always advocate for legislation that protects our local law enforcement officers who serve our communities honorably and put their personal safety on the line every day to keep us safe,” said Rep. Devlin.
The Trumbull Police wrote in their letter of endorsement, “Integrity is within the individual. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent, we believe the person we vote for should have integrity. Laura has proven to us her integrity to support law & order and public safety.”
The Police Officers Association of Connecticut, LLC (POACT) is an entity representing municipal police unions across the state of Connecticut, in large cities and small towns, including Trumbull. The organization was founded in 2016 to bring all police officers together, regardless of union affiliation, to be a strong and unified voice in public policy and legislation.
The Police Officers Association of Connecticut represents nearly 3,000 sworn police officers in our unions.
The Police Officers Association of Connecticut said in a written endorsement that they support Laura Devlin based on her ‘support of issues that are important to police officers and their families, including his commitment to public safety and to fair working conditions and benefits for the men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting all Connecticut residents.’
The membership of the Connecticut State Fraternal Order of Police includes any active full time, or retired, regularly appointed officer of any organized municipal police department of this state or the State Police, or the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration or United States Customs Service.
In their endorsement, the Fraternal Order said, “You have been a long-standing friend of law enforcement and have consistently supported us through this current difficult time. It is very clear you put the safety of the public and police officers first by your recent vote when your support was needed. There is no question in our mind that you will continue to support law enforcement and keep the people of your district safe.”
